Three Gorber girls home for holidays

This has brought no end of joy to the parents, who will have another 3 children home, if only temporarily, for the first time in 7 months.
Mr Gorber is quoted as saying, with tears in his eyes:
A man doesn't cry, it is said, but it is indescribable, an incomparable joy for us. Today, we are very grateful. Unfortunately, it seems here in our neighbourhood there are only a few who share this joy and gratitude with us. Please give our thanks to all those who are praying and all those online, so that they can rejoice with us. We are gradually realising what a deep hole we really have to overcome. We will be interested to see how it goes.

The Status Quo
For those new to the situation in Germany: home educating is (perceived as) illegal.
The common citation for school attendance is to protect against a pluralist society. I'd like to explore the various arguments for (and against) legalising home education in Germany.
It is my sincere hope that this information may help people internationally to lobby for change on behalf of those who want to or are trying to exercise their human right to raise their children the way they choose to.
