The German Legal/Governmental System

Permalink 03/18/07 @ 11:19:43 pm , Categories: German Law, Action

Here is a diagram of the process of government as it is today in Germany. There are literally hundreds of people involved at a variety of different levels, offices and jurisdictions.

So no effort to contact these people will be lost. There have been some suggestions though that change can happen more readily at the "Landtag" (Regional Council) level in each of the 16 regions.

This being the case I will research and assemble a list of the Regional Prime Minister contacts and post this next.

I've been enjoying your blog since you got it started and I hope that it does promote greater discussion of homeschooling and education issues.

You probably already know about the upcoming colloquium in Burg Rothenfels, but in case you haven't, here is more information:

The Status Quo

For those new to the situation in Germany: home educating is (perceived as) illegal.

The common citation for forced school attendance is to protect against parallel societies.

Educating Germany discusses arguments for (and against) legalising home education in Germany.

We report on human rights violations; provide translations of media articles, interviews, court hearings and personal stories into English; and suggest practical ways people, internationally, can lobby for change and support those who long for freedom of education.
